Col Abdul Hameed Khan is an Infantry officer. He has rich experience of Counter Insurgency operations of both North East and J&K. Among other appointments, he has served as an Instructor in Indian Military Academy and on staff in Directorate General of Information Systems, where he contributed in framing of National Geographical Information System (GIS) Policies.

He has written papers on “Reducing religious appeal of Militants in J&K” in 2004, “Cross Border Infiltration: an Analysis” in 2013 and “Societal Polarisation: an Emerging Threat” in 2015.

As a Research Fellow at IDSA, while on study leave, his research focus areas are Internal Security issues with particular focus on J&K and other emerging threats.
