Publications of the Institute comprise of journals, books, monographs, conference proceedings, project reports, occasional papers and task force reports. The Institute has exchange arrangements for books and journals with several similar Institutes/publishers in India and abroad.

IDSA publishes four journals – Strategic Analysis, Journal of Defence Studies, CBW Magazine and Africa Trends. Strategic Analysis has been in print since 1977 and is one of the most established Indian journals in the field of strategic studies. It is now being complemented by the Journal of Defence Studies, which began its innings in the Summer of 2008. The third, more specialized, journal focusing on issues relating to chemical and biological weapons is the CBW Magazine, launched in November 2007. | |||||||||||||

IDSA publishes briefs and papers on significant national and international events both to provide background as well as analysis and recommendations. These include Monographs, Policy Briefs, Issue Briefs, Special Features on the website, as well as Occasional Papers and Delhi Papers. | |||||||||||||

NEWS DIGESTS | |||||||||||||
IDSA publishes a number of news digests. The oldest is Strategic Digest, whose first issue came out in January 1971. It is a monthly compendium of speeches, official documents and news summaries. In addition, digests in e-format are being published in the last few years. The Week in Review covers Asia and issues like energy, terrorism space and missile technology, and defence issues. The POK News Digest carries news summaries, press releases and statements relating to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. A weekly digest of Pakistan’s Urdu Press is the latest initiative in this regard. It carries English translations of select editorials, op-eds and news items. | |||||||||||||
