Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether India – Bangladesh talks begin recently at the Foreign Secretaries level; and
(b) if so, the details of discussion and decisions arrived at so far?
ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (SHRI E. AHAMED)
(a) Foreign Office Consultations at the level of the Foreign Secretary are held regularly between India and Bangladesh. The last round of Foreign Office Consultations took place in Dhaka from June 6-8, 2011.
(b) The two sides held wide ranging discussions on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest. They reviewed implementation of the Joint Communiqué issued during the visit of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to India in January 2010 and preparations for the Prime Minister’s planned visit to Bangladesh.
