SNI Wire featured Research Fellow, IDSA, Dr Adil Rasheed’s interview on ISIS’ launching a public relations overdrive in the aftermath of the Sri Lanka Easter bombings in order to rally its ‘demoralised ranks’, in its website on May 06, 2019.
Speaking on why ISIS has not yet formed a base in India, Dr Rasheed said that India’s more liberal forms of Islam – Barelvis and Deobandi – are at odds with the militant version of Salafi/Wahabi brands of Islam, practiced by ISIS and Al-Qaeda, thereby ensuring that these groups have so far ignored India. However, ISIS’s growing desperation and the migration of fighters to the Af-Pak region is a threat.
