Deepak Kumar

Colonel Deepak Kumar is a graduate of Long Gunnery Staff Course and Defence Services Staff College Courses. He commanded a Field Artillery Regiment in the Northern border and has been an Instructor in the Indian Army School of Artillery, Devlali. He has seen combat as an Artillery Observation Post Officer during Operation Meghdoot in Siachen Glacier and Operation Vijay in Kargil.

The officer has also been involved in counter insurgency operations in Kashmir as part of Operation Rakshak. He has tenanted the appointment of Grade I Staff Officer (Operations) of an Infantry Division and has been awarded Army Commander’s and Chief of Army Staff Commendation Cards.
He has attended an Indo-US Joint Military Exercise at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California, USA as an Observer and has visited the Royal School of Artillery, Larkhill, UK on a faculty exchange programme.

Colonel Kumar is presently studying Central Asia as part of his research fellowship at Manohar Parrikar IDSA, New Delhi.
