Ms. Nagapushpa Devendra was a Research Analyst in the West Asia Centre. She joined MP-IDSA in 2017. Ms. Devendra researches the regional conflicts, particularly in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen. She also closely monitors political development in Iran. She has written articles and commentaries on regional issues on several online platforms and journals.
She has a Master of Arts in Diplomacy, Law, and Business (MADLB) from the Jindal School of International Affairs, O.P. Jindal Global University, Haryana. She wrote her thesis on Iran’s rising stature in West Asia during the Obama administration.
Prior to joining MP-IDSA, she worked for Greenpeace India, Consultant at BBC monitoring, and Research Associate at Institute of Perception Studies, New Delhi (previously known as Studio Adda).

Accessing Israel-Iran Simmering Rivalry In Syria – Analysis

Research Associate, IDSA, Ms Nagapushpa Devendra’s article on Israel-Iran rivalry in Syria has been published in Eurasia Review on June 15, 2018. ‘The Iraq File’ and ‘The Kootneeti’ also published same article on June 16 2018.

Israel considers that an attack by Iran, while not imminent, is inevitable, and that delay in attacking would involve greater risk. Usually, this happens, when the balance of military capability is expected to shift in the enemy’s favour, due to the prospects that the opponent will acquire or develop a powerful new offensive or defensive capability. In this case, it is the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) brokered with Iran under Obama administration, writes Ms Devendra.
