Background
Ranjit Ghosh is a senior fellow at IDSA’s Defence  Economics and Industry Centre. He is a gold medalist from IIT Madras and during  the M Tech programme specialised in Maintenance Engineering and Management. He has  a Masters in Management Studies from Osmania University in Defence Management. He  has had varied operational and service experience of over 32 years in the Army.  As Commandant & Managing Director of an Army Base Workshop he was responsible  for the planning and execution of the re-capitalisation programmes of the Infantry  Combat Vehicles and Armoured Recovery Vehicles of the Indian Army. At the  Integrated Headquarters of MoD (Army) he was associated with the Ordnance  Factories, DPSU’s, DRDO and the Private Sector on issues relating to the induction  and sustenance engineering activities of military equipment besides being  associated with the ongoing defence procurements.
