The MP-IDSA offers membership to individuals (Indian Nationals) and institutions engaged or interested in defence, strategic and security studies. Membership activities are guided and monitored by the Membership Committee of the institute’s Executive Council.

The subscription period for all categories of members (except Life Members) is April 01 to March 31. This is irrespective of the date on which subscription was paid during the previous year. All membership (except Life Membership) has to be renewed every financial year. Members can also pay in advance for a period of five years to draw a 5% concession on membership fee payable.

The types of membership offered by the institute are:

Life Membership

Life Members receive the Institute’s journal Strategic Analysis and are entitled to use the library by depositing a one time, refundable, non-interest bearing security deposit of Rs.5000/- (w.e.f. 1st July 2020) (except Life Members who are also Executive Council Members). By virtue of being members of the General Body, Life Members have the right to vote. They also have the privilege of attending the Institute’s Fellow Seminars. The lifetime subscription fee is Rs.6,000/-.

Member

Members and Life Members form the General Body of the Institute. They have the right to vote. They can borrow books from the library by depositing a one time, refundable, non-interest bearing security deposit of Rs.5000/- (w.e.f. 1st July 2020). They also have the privilege of attending the Institute’s Fellow Seminars. Subscription fee for this category is Rs.750/- a year.

Associate Membership

Associate Members can use the library and borrow books by depositing a one time, refundable, non-interest bearing security deposit of Rs.5000/- (w.e.f. 1st July 2020). The Subscription fee is Rs.500/- a year. (w.e.f. April 2023)

Corporate Membership

A duly appointed representative of the Corporate (body) Member can use the Institute library and borrow books by depositing a one time, refundable, non-interest bearing security deposit of Rs.5000/- (w.e.f. 1st July 2020). Annual subscription fee for the membership category Rs.2000/- for Government Establishment and Rs.1Lac for Private Corporate.
