IDSA Delegation Led by Dr Arvind Gupta Concludes China Visit

A four-member delegation led by Director General IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta concluded a week long visit to China from May 29 to June 3, 2012. During the visit, Dr Gupta addressed the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR Forum) on the theme ‘The Future of Afghanistan and Regional Cooperation’ with an Indian perspective. He also led the IDSA delegation in the bilateral dialogue and interaction with scholars from CICIR that was led by its President Mr Cui Liru. Bilateral, regional and international issues were discussed.

Later, Dr Gupta and his delegation had an interactive session with the Vice President of the China Institutes of International Studies (CIIS), Dr Liu Youfa. Dr. Gupta was also interviewed live by the China Central Television (CCTV) on June 1, 2012. Thereafter, Dr Gupta and his delegation calledon the Indian Ambassador to China, Mr S. Jaishankar.

On June 3, 2012, Dr Gupta participated in the International Advisory Committee Meeting of the Shanghai Institutes of International Studies(SIIS) in Beijing. The IDSA scholars discussed the issues of mutual interest with the scholars of SIIS in Shanghai.
