Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether as per Russian Ambassador to India, around 40 terror camps are still active in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border areas and are looking to target India’s interest in Afghanistan;
(b) if so, the reaction of the Government of India thereto; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

ANSWER THE MINISTER OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (SHRI S.M. KRISHNA)

(a) to (c) Government is aware of media reports about the interview of the Russian Ambassador to India H.E. Mr. Alexander M. Kadakin, wherein he has reportedly mentioned about 40 terror camps being active in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border areas. Government cooperates on counter-terrorism measures with partner countries, including Russia, and shares relevant information with them. Government continuously monitors all developments in this regard and remains committed to safeguarding and strengthening India’s security.
